I'm a newbie filmmaker and didn't know where to start so this film school was right up my alley. Great teachers, good advice and I finished the five months knowing I could make some great films and even have the confidence to do some freelance film work. Thanks so much for helping me out.. well worth the money spent!

I learnt so much on the five month film school and trust me I've been to so many courses. If you want to learn a lot in a short span of time, Australian Film Base is the place to go. The price justifies the knowledge and experience you will get once you complete this and as for me I was able to get a job in the film industry thanks to these guys.

I've taken many quick courses about filmmaking and this one is by far the best in Melbourne. Really in-depth, quality instructors that have knowledge and field experience that are down to earth and really made me feel at home (I had a lot of questions). I left the course more confident in myself to take on the film industry! Everything from lighting to camera angles.. I learnt so much!!

I loved the 5  Month Filmmaking School. Do yourself a favour. It is the best course in filmmaking to do. We had so much fun and I made new creative friends who I am making films with now. Greg Woodland has to be one of the best screenwriting teachers.

Making a 10 minute film and editing it was so much fun and all in a five month period. It honestly exceeded my expectations by 100%. If you come along with a positive attitude and really want to learn how to make a film, this course will be the very best way to make that happen.

Learning about Film Festivals and how to get your film into them and learning off Film Director Colm O’Murchu who teaches part of the course was very exciting. Indie Film Club that meets three times per year is also a fun night where past graduates meet and network and socialise

If you want 5 exciting months , enrol on the 4 Month Filmmaking Course and in 5 months have worked on and edited a 10 minute short film.

You get to work with professionals in the industry, alot of practicality on the ground, this course motivate to produce your own film , you get to experiment the now how , can’t recommend more !

Absolutely loved both the 3 month short film course and the acting course. You learnt everything you need to be able to create your very own film! I went on to produce my very own short film 😁.

My 18 years old Son just finished this course. The youngest on it but he was surrounded by mature friendly people. He loved the course compared to the dry/academic courses run at other “well known” places. This was “hands on” and full on, especially the filming days which he loved. The end product was very professional but he has learnt so much on the way. This has encouraged him to go much further in this industry. Thanks to the teachers and team he will never forget this. And thanks from a grateful parent.

Took this course to gain the knowledge from beginning to end in creating a short film.

This is a course I’d recommend to anyone wanting to learn how to create a film, getting into the filming industry and even to learn more from professionals in the industry of filming.

It was great working together with everyone in the class and creating a short film that got shown to everyone on the final night of presentation along with the Certificate

A recommend course to anyone out there

I was always interested in film-making but thought it too hard and too time-consuming to get involved. But when I started to research the best courses – and there were many offering all sorts of things – I finally settled on one that shone out – Australian Film Central 5 Month Film Course.

Australian Film Central has been around since 1997 – and I did my first course with AFC a few years ago.

Learning to make a film from beginning to end – writing a script, producing, casting, directing, shooting, editing and promoting my film – and doing it in a practical way and learning on the job for such a reasonable cost, solved my problem.

From participating in a group student film, then making my own 10 Minute Short Film in an Advanced Course, and then being offered a gig on one of AFC’s Feature Films, what more could I ask for!

Since then I’ve worked on a number of short films and features and each time learnt something new and extended my experiences.

So for me, value for money, the opportunity to work with professionals in a student and Indie film setting where it involved theoretical and, to a much greater degree, practical hands-on film-making was essential to my progress towards becoming a film-maker.

So, my film became one of over 225 short films and features that Australian Film Central has guided prospective film-makers for over 27 years – a quarter of a century!

I know these courses will benefit many more student film-makers into the future and I wish AFC the greatest success because it’s people like them who have worked hard and produced the results for us – the dreamers who want to be film-makers, tell stories, and one day create a blockbuster!

I would highly recommend Australian Film Central courses to anyone wishing to learn how to make films and actually make them!
