Colm has guided and instructed over the years on 175 short films made. He is currently completing production on Tabernacle 101 his new movie set for worldwide release in 2019. With a wealth of film teaching and film making experience Colm O’Murchu is one of the very best film instructors.​

4 Month Film Course Outline

Month One Screenplay & Casting

Learn to Write a Screenplay professionally and Cast A film with Real Actors. You write a 10 minute screenplay for the film production. You experience a real casting with real actors. From the casting, you will pick actors for the Film Shoot –    Tuesday Nights 

MONTH Two Technical Training

Learn how to use Professional Camera Lights and Sound Equipment. We use the Black Magic Ursa Camera and Sennheiser Sound equipment.   Learn how to use the equipment and how to shoot a film scene. Photo: Jack Kelly rigging a camera to a car Tuesday Nights

MONTH 3 Shoot & Preprouction

Learn Film Directing and all on a Real Film Shoot.  Learn Preproduction and Production Management. You will be on Location x 4 Days.

This is a real shoot, shot on various locations. You get to do various roles including Directing and Camera Operations. You work with real actors and experience a real film shoot.   Photo form one of our film shoots Tabernacle 101         

Tuesday Nights & Saturdays

MONTH 4 Postproduction/Career

Learn to edit your film on Adobe Premiere Pro and Colour on DaVinci. You actually edit the film and source music

I learnt so much here and trust me I've been to so many courses in Sydney. If you want to learn a lot in a short span of time, Australian Film Base is the place to go. The price justifies the knowledge and experience you will get once you complete this and as for me I was able to get a job in the film industry thanks to these guys.

So thankful I found this place. Me and my mate needed a fast but detailed crash course on film-making as we are looking to start our own film production company (mainly music videos). Learnt a lot from editing techniques, setting up the right angles, how to do deal with actors as well as got to meet some cool film industry teachers. Pretty epic and I also got to network with other people that went there! Thought I'd just come on here and write my honest opinion about this place and how much it has helped us stay ahead of the competition. Good luck everybody.

It is so helpful that the film course is on Tuesday Nights and Some Saturdays meaning that one can keep the day job. You learn so much in such a short time. On night one, you meet your fellow course people and they are a mix of beginners and some experienced people who have made short films before. The instructor told us that we would make a film in 4 months and it is hard to believe. But it happened and we had a 12 minute film on the to screen at the Final Night Event with our friends and family and the actors and people from past courses. It was a great feeling of achievement. It is amazing but you learn by doing, by writing a screenplay by casting the film by doing all the preproduction and by shooting on location over three Saturdays. So much fun. For Value for money this course has it in spades. I highly recommend that you do the course!
